I just finished Isabelle Allende's My Invented Country, which was interesting. I could identify with her more than I thought I would. It's definitely not her best, but it was a book that came into my life at the right time. I needed some examples of other people's lives turning out to become just what they needed them to be. Of other people becoming who they needed to be.
The Rolling Stone's "You can't always get what you want" comes to mind.
